Less than 5 hours to go... woo hoo! People are already lined up at the theatre, D and I will be leaving soon to drive up there. I've got my snazzy new t-shirt on (LOVE iron-on transfers!) and my long brown corduroy coat... so I'm set. Sweet!
1. Are you a yarn snob (do you prefer natural fibers)? Do you avoid Red Heart and Lion Brand? Or is it all the same to you?
I do tend to buy all natural fibers, typically from some of the yarn shops in and around New York City (The Yarn Company and Purl are favorites) or online (KnitPicks and Elann... can't beat nice inexpensive yarn). I use both wool and cotton (love Manos and Blue Sky in particular). I'd like to try some bamboo yarn - the whole concept fascinates me!
Yes, I know... I haven't talked about my amazing dinner at Craft yet. I promise I will, though it might be a few days still. I will say though, do go if you have the chance. We're going to try Craftbar and 'wichcraft, which I'm sure will be just as good as Craft.
Tomorrow is the special advanced screening of Serenity. I am very excited! I went out last night and got a brown t-shirt and a pack of iron-on transfer sheets and printed out a design. Will try the whole iron-on process tonight after the gym, hope it comes out 'shiny' (using a little of the lingo from the Firefly 'verse).
Gearing up for a weekend in Atlanta, the weather is much nicer there (thank goodness... it's mid 40's here. I broke out a sweater and my puffy down coat this morning!). We're going to an Atlanta Braves game on Sunday - I do hope it doesn't rain. I love Atlanta, so I'm looking forward to visiting some old haunts.
Need to put together my mix cd's for the swap... I got another spindle of cd's and some envelopes last night (big Staples trip). I think I'm going to send out 2 cd's to everyone, I have 2 recent mixes that I really like. I want to introduce them all to Peter and the gang. (Note to self, get tickets for the Boston Folk Fest to see lots of great folks, including Redbird!)
Ok, that's all for now... we'll chat some more later.
Clotilde over at Chocolate and Zucchini is coming to NYC in June, and the comment section on her NYC post is buzzing. Lots of New Yorkers (and ex-New Yorkers, and soon-to-be New Yorkers) are talking about their favorite restaurants. Isn't it funny how blogs are at once totally anonymous and at the same time such a neat way to meet people with similar interests.
Just my thought for the moment. All this food talk has made me hungry, I'm going to eat lunch now!
May 19, 2005 | Oakfield, N.Y. -- Katie Brownell is in a Little League all her own. The 11-year-old -- the only girl playing in the Oakfield-Alabama Little League program -- pitched a perfect game Saturday for her Dodgers. She struck out all 18 batters she faced in the six-inning, 11-0 victory over the Yankees.
Oakfield-Alabama officials said they can't remember anybody ever throwing a perfect game in this western New York league between Buffalo and Rochester.
In two games on the mound, Katie has struck out 32 of 33 batters. And she's hitting .714 through the team's first three games.
"She's been pitching for three years, but she really came on and excelled this year," said team manager Jeff Sage.
Katie was almost pulled out of Saturday's game until the scorekeeper reminded her coach she had a no-hitter going. Katie then kept mowing down the opposition and when the last batter was fanned, the crowd erupted.
Had a successful shopping trip yesterday, finally found a dress for a bunch of events I have coming up... first is that dinner on Saturday with J & M and J's Mom. J's graduation present is getting here today, and we're also printing out a few pictures for them. I'll post one here after we give them the present on Saturday.
So today I smell like self-tanner. Mmmmm, my favorite smell (not!). I am extremely fair skinned, so I tend to dabble in self-tanners. I did try a spray tan before our wedding... boy, I was TAN. It was a little weird though, I really didn't look like myself for the first few days. It wore off enough by the wedding, thank goodness.
Started another knitting project last night while watching Firefly (The Train Job). I needed some sort of wrap for my new dress, so I'm playing with a drop stitch pattern in the red manos cotton. I should be able to get it done by Saturday. If it doesn't work, I might be wearing my dark jeans jacket.
